When you install Pro Tools, several MIDI patch name files (. Midnam) are installed for the factory default patch names of many common MIDI devices. These factory patch name file reside in the following folder: Macintosh HDLibraryAudioMIDI Patch NamesDigidesign'manufacturer name'. As far as selecting patch names for the Motif within Pro Tools, assuming you have the Motif ES and not the older Motif, you'll have to Google and download the patch file which will be called something like MotifESRack.midnam and put it into the place in your PC's Digidesign folder where all the other patch names are located.

Hey, how are you doing today? I saved a midi SMF file of a song I was working on in the roland fantom g6.
When importing the SMF file into protools for further editing, the midi data loads up perfectly and syncs to the tempo. However, the patches I used in the fantom are not saved onto my hard drive of my computer.so it,loads with no instrument assigned to the midi track. I can asdign new instruments no problem within my pro tools sound bank, but there are some sounds I want to, preserve from the original session. Anyone know how to achieve this?Side note: for experienced pro tools users. When setting up my midi configuration on pro tools for the fantom, I had to add a new device where roland fantom was available, but roland fantom g 6 was not. I dont know if this matters because it does recognize it as a midi controller, but the patch bank is different than mine when trying to access the patches through pro tools.
I am assuming theres a file I need to download?Working on mac os x snow leapordThank you for the help I really appreciate it.
